Alonzo Gaffney will play in an all-star game before he starts his Ohio State career.

Friday, the Ohio native who is playing his senior year for Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy was announced as a participant in the 18 th annual Jordan Brand Classic. The game, which will be held April 20 (unless it conflicts with an NHL playoff game) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, will feature 26 players on two teams.

Gaffney will participate on the Home Team, which will fittingly play the Away Team. He was recently named second-team NEPSAC Class AAA for his lone season at the academy after having transferred from Garfield Heights, Ohio, for his senior season.

The boys’ game will immediately follow the girls’ game, which features a pair of future Buckeyes. Kierstan Bell, a 6-1 forward from Canton (Ohio) McKinley and Kaelynn Satterfield, a 6-0 wing from Middle Village (New York) Christ The King, will both play for the Away Team.

Gaffney is a four-star prospect in the 247Sports.com composite rankings and the No. 42 recruit in the class of 2019.

Fellow signees DJ Carton and E.J. Liddell will both play in the 2019 Iverson Classic, which will take place April 24 at a to-be-determined location. Both future Buckeyes will participate on “Team Honor.”
