3 ex-Buckeyes, Columbus native sign as free agents with NFL teams
Three former Ohio State football players and a Columbus native have signed free-agent deal with NFL teams.
Cornerback Antonio Smith of Beechcroft High School is headed to Indianapolis, where he will join former OSU teammates Anthony Gonzalez, Quinn Pitcock and Roy Hall, who all were drafted by the Colts last weekend.
Safety Brandon Mitchell signed with the Houston Texans, and guard T.J. Downing agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals.
Former Minnesota running back Gary Russell, a Walnut Ridge graduate, signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
