OSU surges past Michigan in men's hockey

Wyatt Ege and Quinn Preston scored four minutes apart in the third period to give Ohio State the lead for good, and the fourth-ranked Buckeyes salvaged a weekend split against Michigan with a 4-2 victory in Big Ten play on Saturday night at Value City Arena.

After Jimmy Lambert’s goal gave Michigan a 2-1 lead at 8:48 of the third, Ege struck 28 seconds later to tie it. Preston scored at the 13:03 mark to give OSU (13-5-4, 6-3-3-2) a 3-2 advantage, and Ronnie Hein added an empty-netter with 24 seconds left to seal it.

Tanner Laczynski had a power-play goal in the first period and Tommy Nappier made 26 saves for the Buckeyes, who avenged a 2-1 defeat on Friday. Hayden Lavigne made 18 saves for Michigan (8-9-6, 4-5-4-2).
