Ohio State couldn’t make it two wins in a row over the nation’s No. 1 team, falling to Wisconsin 5-2 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game at the OSU Ice Rink.

Coming off a 1-0 win on Friday night, the seventh-ranked Buckeyes (15-7-0, 9-5-0) were outscored 2-0 in the third period and outshot 45-14 in the game.

Emma Maltais scored for OSU in the first period, and Sophie Jaques found the net on the power play in the second to trim the Badgers’ lead to 3-2 with 26 seconds to go in the period.

But Britta Curl scored her second goal of the game for Wisconsin (20-2-0, 10-2-0) at 8:35 of the third period, and Sophia Shaver put it out of reach with a tally at 11:02. Curl’s first goal came just 52 seconds into the game.

One night after recording a 32-save shutout, Andrea Braendli stopped 40 of 45 shots for OSU.
