Women's hockey | Ohio State defeats Wisconsin in shootout

Emma Malthais and Liz Schepers scored and Andrea Braendil stopped two shots in the shootout, and No. 10 Ohio State (18-12-2, 10-2-2) prevailed for the second consecutive game in a shootout at No. 1 Wisconsin (28-4-2, 18-4-2-0) in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Braendil registered 40 saves in the 2-2 overtime tie that preceded the shootout. Maltais opened the scoring just 23 seconds into the game, and Schepers made it 2-0 in the second period.
The Badgers forced the extra period by scoring twice in the third period. Ohio State earned the second point in the league standings by winning the shootout.
