Michigan State scored three times in both the first and third innings to take control and down Ohio State 7-1 in Greenville, South Carolina.

Garrett Burhenn (2-1) gave up seven runs on 12 hits over five innings to take the loss for the Buckeyes (7-6). Mike Mokma (1-0) pitched a complete-game seven-hitter for Michigan State (3-10), allowing seven hits and striking out 11.

Matt Carpenter singled and later scored on a double-play groundout in the sixth for OSU’s only run.
