Ohio State hit three home runs, but Rutgers (17-18, 1-7 Big Ten) defeated the Buckeyes 8-6 in eight innings at Buckeye Field.
Kallie Boren and Niki Carver each homered to help OSU (22-11, 6-2) build a 3-1 lead in the second inning and Meg Otte’s solo shot tied it at 5-5 in the sixth before Rutgers scored three runs in the eighth.
The Buckeyes a run in the bottom of the eighth, but the rally fell short.
