Baseball | Minnesota 5, Ohio State 4, 18 innings: Gophers down Buckeyes in marathon

Gabe Knowles hit an RBI single with the bases loaded to help Minnesota defeat Ohio State 5-4 in 18 innings in Minneapolis.

Ohio State (24-21, 7-9) scored a pair of runs in the eighth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Matt Carpenter scored on a fielder's choice by Dillon Dingler and Dingler later scored on a wild pitch.

Minnesota (19-23, 9-7) evened the score in the bottom of the ninth on Eli Wilson’s RBI single to left field.

The Buckeyes and Golden Gophers conclude their series with a doubleheader Sunday.

Two games were scheduled for Saturday, but since the first game went so long the doubleheader was pushed to Sunday.
