Following No. 2 seed Ohio State's 75-72 overtime loss to No. 15 seed Oral Roberts, Buckeyes forward E.J. Liddell shared with the world a peek into his Instagram direct messages.

The vile side of sports fandom was on full display as the sophomore who scored 23 points with 14 rebounds shared the abuse he had received since the game.

An outpouring of support quickly followed with fans, players and countless others reacting to the messages Liddell shared.

TBS analyst Charles Barkley spoke on the incident Saturday morning, showing his support for Liddell and discussed the darker side of social media.

“I’m never gonna dignify these losers and interact with them ever, I don’t care how much money some offers me, I’ll never do social media because of this,” Barkley said.

OSU athletic director Gene Smith said the athletic department assisted Liddell in filing a report of the threats with university police.
