Ohio State signee Malaki Branham named Ohio's Mr. Basketball; Des Watson a finalist
Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary senior Malaki Branham, who has signed to play at Ohio State next season, was announced as Ohio Mr. Basketball on Wednesday by a statewide media panel.
Branham led St. Vincent-St. Mary to a 25-2 record this year and the Division II state championship, averaging 21.3 points per game. He scored 37 points in the state final against DeSales.
Des Watson of DeSales was a finalist for the award.
St. Vincent-St. Mary has a state-record four Mr. Basketball trophies, with LeBron james winning the other three. Schools with three Mr. Basketball honorees are Northland and Lima Senior.
