Ohio State women's soccer loses to Santa Clara in NCAA second round

GREENVILE,  N.C. — The Ohio State women's soccer team lost to No. 10 Santa Clara 4-1 in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.

The Buckeyes were forced to play the final 57 minutes of the game with 10 players after junior Kayla Fischer was issued a red card. Santa Clara (8-1)  led 4-0 before Ohio State's Peyton McNamara scored in the 61st minute, the fifth of the season for the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year. Senior Marissa Birzon was credited with the assist, her fifth of the season and seventh for her career.

The Buckeyes finished 8-3-3.
