Four-star tight end Benji Gosnell announced Tuesday night that he plans to reopen his recruitment, decommitting from Ohio State.

“This has been very hard,” Gosnell wrote. “I’m thankful for the opportunity OSU has given me and the class they have shown throughout this tough decision.”

A native of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, Gosnell had been committed to the Buckeyes since November.

He’s the nation's 13th-ranked tight end prospect in the class of 2022, according to the composite rankings from 247Sports.

The Buckeyes still have another tight end committed in the cycle in Bennett Christian, who is also a four-star recruit.

Gosnell is the second decommitment in the past four months after linebacker Dasan McCullough flipped to Indiana in April.

Ohio State now has 16 commitments for their 2022 class, which has been atop the national rankings.
