Ohio State shot putter Adelaide Aquilla falls short in qualifying round at Tokyo Olympics

Oho State's Adelaide Aquilla competes in the women's shot put qualification during the Olympic Summer Games on Friday.

Ohio State shot putter Adelaide Aquilla finished 20th in qualifying and did not advance at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday. Only the top 12 advance.

Aquilla's best throw of her three was 17.68. Lijiao Gong of China had the top throw at 19.46.

Aquilla, who was named Ohio State's women's athlete of the year, set school and Big Ten records in the shot put while winning NCAA titles in both the indoor and outdoor championships.
