No. 7 Ohio State women's volleyball team tops No. 6 Purdue in four sets
The No. 7-ranked Ohio State women’s volleyball team defeated No. 6 Purdue in four sets on Friday night at the Covelli Center.
OSU won 25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21. It was the Buckeyes' second top-10 win this season, as they previously defeated No. 4 Washington.
Mia Grunze reached double-figure kills for the seventh time this season, finishing with 17 kills. Gabby Gonzales had 12 kills, the 11th time this season she had at least 10.
Emily Londot reached double-figure kills for the 13th time this season and recorded her fifth double-double by adding 15 digs. Londot’s six blocks were her second most of the season.
The Buckeyes outhit the Boilermakers in every set they won as well as in the entire match, .220-.135. The Ohio State defense limited its opponent to hitting less than .200 for the 13th time this season.
“They’re a great team and we knew they were going to be a tough opponent – they really frustrate teams with their defense," said OSU coach Jen Flynn Oldenburg. "I’m proud of our team’s preparation heading into this match and just the mindset of we want to be the aggressors and I feel like we did that."
