Former Ohio State gymnast Alec Yoder finishes fifth at World Championships

Former Ohio State All-American Alec Yoder finished fifth in the pommel horse finals at the 2021 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan on Saturday.

Yoder, a 2019 OSU graduate who was third in qualifying, scored 14.766 on the apparatus. Stephen Nedoroscik, who Yoder edged out for a spot on the U.S. Tokyo Olympic team, won the event with a score of 15.266, followed by Weng Hao of China, Kazuma Kaya of Japan and Nariman Kurbanov of Kazakhstan.

Yoder was a 10-time All-American at OSU, including four in pommel horse and three in all-around, and he won the national championship on the pommel horse as a senior in 2019.
