Devin Brown, 4-star quarterback from Utah and former Joe Germaine pupil, headed to Ohio State
Ohio State football has addition to its quarterback room.
Several weeks after losing Quinn Ewers and Jack Miller to transfer, the Buckeyes signed the No. 6-ranked quarterback in the Class of 2022 on Wednesday during National Signing Day in Devin Brown.
The 6-foot-3-inch, 190-pound Brown hails from Draper, Utah, where he played at Corner Canyon High School. Brown is the No. 53-ranked overall recruit in the country and committed to Ohio State on Dec. 1.
Brown visited Ohio State during the Buckeyes' rout of Michigan State in November.
Ewers, the highest-rated player to sign with Ohio State during the recruiting ranking era, entered the transfer portal days after Brown's commitment and a few days before redshirt freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud was named a Heisman Trophy finalist.
Ewers is headed to Texas.
Class of 2021 five-star recruit Kyle McCord, who won Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance against Akron, is also expected to return for his sophomore season.
Brown, the No,1-ranked player from Utah in the 2022 class, played high school football at Queen Creek High School in Queen Creek, Arizona, before transferring to Corner Canyon this past season.
Devin Brown played QB for Ohio State legend Joe Germaine
The Ohio State Buckeyes will play Utah in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 25 years after the Buckeyes staged a comeback against Arizona State to win the 1997 Rose Bowl.
Joe Germaine was the leader of the comeback, throwing a touchdown pass to David Boston with 19 seconds left for the win.
Germaine, now 46, has gone on to be a high school football coach in Arizona and was Brown's coach at Queen Creek High School.
Germaine left Queen Creek High School for Mountain View High School in April.
Devin Brown had been committed to USC
Brown committed to the University of Southern California on Sept. 19, 2020. But he continued to take visits and receive offers. USC fired coach Clay Helton almost a year after Brown's commitment.
Brown visited Ohio State on Nov. 20, decommitted on Nov. 24 and pledged to Ohio State a week later.
USC hired Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley two days before Brown's commitment to Ohio State.

Where Ohio State’s 2022 recruiting class ranks
Ohio State entered December's early National Signing Day with the No.4-ranked recruiting class.
They trail Alabama, Georgia and Texas A&M. Those three programs plan to sign at least three 5-star recruits each.
When is the next National Signing Day?
In 2017, the NCAA brought back the early signing day for football. It went into effect in 2018. But before that, the first Wednesday of February was National Signing Day for football recruits.
The next signing will be Feb. 2.
However, recruits don’t have to sign that day. Last year, Ohio State signed J.T. Tuimoloau in the summer.
How does Ohio State's 2023 recruiting class look right now?
As of now, Ohio State has two commitments in its 2023 class. Tight end Tyler Lockwood of Independence, Tenn. (4-star) and Dayton Wayne standout lineman Joshua Padilla (4-stars) have committed to Ohio State.
