Ohio State women's basketball game canceled due to COVID-19 cases on UCLA Bruins team
The No. 24 Ohio State women's basketball team will not play the UCLA Bruins on Sunday at 8 p.m. due to COVID-19 cases in the UCLA program.
This is the first cancelation of a game this season for Ohio State women's basketball, and it follows the cancelation of the men's team's game against Kentucky in Las Vegas.
UCLA had its game against Texas Southern on Thursday canceled due to coronavirus cases in the program. The Bruins also canceled their game on Tuesday after they were scheduled to play the Buckeyes.
In recent weeks, sports in the U.S. and around the globe have had numerous cancelations or postponements due to rising COVID-19 cases. With the emergence of the omicron variant of the coronavirus that health officials say is more contagious than the delta variant, it's possible that cancelations and postponements will become more regular in the near future.
As of now, there are no known cases of COVID-19 on Ohio State. The Buckeyes' next game is scheduled for Tuesday at San Diego State at 4 p.m.
