Defensive lineman Cormontae Hamilton no longer with Ohio State football program
Ohio State defensive lineman Cormontae Hamilton is no longer with the program, a team spokesman confirmed.
Hamilton, a reserve defensive end who had been with the Buckeyes for three seasons, was not listed on an updated roster released Thursday.
Ranked as a composite three-star prospect in the 2019 recruiting class, he joined the Buckeyes as a tight end before switching to defensive end after redshirting as a freshman.
But his playing time remained limited following the position switch. In 2021, he saw only 68 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, the third-fewest among the Buckeyes' scholarship defensive ends. About a third of them came late in a non-conference blowout win over Akron.
Appearing in a backup role in 12 games over the last two seasons, Hamilton totaled six tackles and a pair of sacks.
He’s a native of Memphis.
