Former Ohio State football linebacker K'Vaughan Pope to transfer to Tennessee State
Former Ohio State linebacker K’Vaughan Pope is transferring to Tennessee State, he announced Friday on social media.
Pope has been in the NCAA transfer portal for the last six months since being dismissed from the team early last season.
In the Buckeyes’ non-conference win over Akron in late September, he got into a heated exchange with coaches and teammates on the sideline and was escorted to the locker room by a team official following the outburst.
Heading to Tennessee State, a Football Championship Subdivision program in Nashville, he will be coached by Eddie George, a former Heisman Trophy-winning running back at Ohio State who is entering his second season leading the Tigers’ program.
In four seasons as a reserve with the Buckeyes, Pope had 19 tackles and a pair of interceptions. The Virginia native has two seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining as a result of qualifying for a redshirt season in 2021 and having an additional season of eligibility due to the coronavirus pandemic.
