Ohio State's James Trotter wins first pro tennis title

Ohio State senior James Trotter defeated former Arizona State standout Nathan Ponwith 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 on Sunday to win the M25 Edwardsville Futures event and claim his first title in a professional event.

Trotter, a native of Hyogo, Japan, won seven matches in the tournament. In the semifinal, he defeated Patrick Kypson. 

Trotter is coming off a first team All-Big Ten season, which saw him go 21-8 in singles and be ranked as high at No. 2 in the country in doubles.
