Ohio State baseball starts search for new coach after releasing Greg Beals
Ohio State has informed Greg Beals that they are moving on rather than bringing him back as the Buckeyes baseball coach. Beals had one year remaining on his current contract, and a search for his successor will begin immediately.
Beals was Ohio State's coach for 12 seasons, beginning in 2011. His record was 346-288-1 overall and 141-139 in the Big Ten Conference.
Under Beals, Ohio State competed in eight Big Ten tournaments, won tournament championships in 2016 and 2019, and advanced to the NCAA regionals in 2016, 2018 and 2019. He helped developed more than two dozen MLB draft picks.
Beals is a Springfield native who has also held positions at Ball State, where he went 243-202, and as an assistant coach at his alma mater of Kent State.
