After beginning the 2023 class with Austin Parks and George Washington III, Chris Holtmann and the Ohio State men's basketball program secured another in-state splash.

Pickerington Central's Devin Royal (purple shorts) talks to Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann and assistant Jake Diebler before playing at Ohio State's team camp June 9, 2022.

Four-star Pickerington Central small forward Devin Royal ended his recruitment Wednesday, picking Ohio State over Michigan State and Alabama

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound small forward is the highest-rated player from Central Ohio to commit to Ohio State since Jae'Sean Tate in 2014.

Last season for Pickerington Central, Royal averaged 19.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists and was named first-team all-state.

Ohio State is also in the hunt for another 2023 prospect in forward Scotty Middleton, who will announce his college decision Aug. 7 between the Buckeyes, Seton Hall and UConn.

Here's how people are reacting to the Buckeyes' latest signing in the 2023 class.
