Ohio State football tied with LSU for second-most NFL players heading into 2022 season

Ohio State had more players roaming NFL sidelines than just about every college football team, including Michigan.

The Buckeyes were tied with LSU for the second-most players on active NFL rosters to start the 2022 season with 52. Alabama was the only team with more, leading all college football programs with 58.

Ohio State leads all Big Ten teams by team 17 players, with Penn State starting the 2022 NFL season with 35 players, while Michigan came in with 33 players on NFL teams.

In 2022, 224 different colleges were represented on NFL active rosters during Week 1.

Heading into the 2022 season, the NFL calculated that the Buckeyes had the most representatives at the wide receiver position with seven: Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Curtis Samuel, Noah Brown, Parris Campbell and Terry McLaurin.

The NFL also had Ohio State tied with LSU, Michigan and Notre Dame for the most offensive guards: Pat Elflein, Michael Jordan, Jonah Jackson and Andrew Norwell. Guards Wyatt Davis and Jamarco Jones were also members of NFL rosters when the season kicked off Sept. 8.
