Who played the most? Snap counts from Ohio State football's win over Iowa
In his return from a hamstring injury, Ohio State receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was on the field for slightly more than a third of the Buckeyes’ offensive snaps.
Smith-Njigba played 22 out of 64 snaps in Saturday’s 54-10 win over Iowa, according to the tracking data from Pro Football Focus, catching one pass for seven yards.
All of those came before he left in the second quarter with a slight limp after trying to catch up to a pass thrown by quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Buckeyes coach Ryan Day said the staff had planned to keep Smith-Njigba, who had been sidelined for four out of the previous five games, on a “pitch count” of around 20 snaps, a threshold he met before halftime.
In his postgame news conference, Day downplayed concerns that Smith-Njigba had re-aggravated his injured hamstring.
For not only Smith-Njigba’s snap counts from Saturday, but also the rest of the Buckeyes, a rundown from PFF is below.
