Former UCLA defensive back Jay Shaw is among the six transfer players who signed with Wisconsin on Wednesday.

Wisconsin's 2022 football roster grew by seven Wednesday, the first day of the second signing period.

Six of the seven players transferred from other schools. The seventh, wide receiver Chris Brooks Jr., is an incoming freshman who originally committed to Yale.

The six transfers are cornerbacks Cedrick Dort Jr. (Kentucky), Jay Shaw (UCLA) and Justin Clark (Toledo); wide receiver Keontez Lewis (UCLA); kicker Vito Calvaruso (Arkansas); and safety Bryce Carney (Northern Illinois), a preferred walk-on who is a graduate of Middleton High School.

Brooks, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, committed to UW on Tuesday.

He was a first-team, all–state at wide receiver as a senior at St. Louis University High School in Missouri.

He caught 49 passes for 959 yards, an average of 19.6 yards, and nine touchdowns and also rushed for 12 touchdowns as a senior.

Six members of the 2022 freshman class have enrolled for the spring semester.

They are quarterback Myles Burkett, cornerback Avyonne Jones, cornerback A’Khoury Lyde, nose tackle Curt Neal, offensive lineman Barrett Nelson and inside linebacker Aidan Vaughan.
