The Detroit Tigers selected high school outfielder Parker Meadows on Monday in the second round of the MLB draft.

Meadows, from Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., was the 44th overall pick and the Tigers' second selection of the day. The Tigers also took Auburn right-handed pitcher Casey Mize with the No. 1 overall pick.

He is committed to Clemson, but could sign with the Tigers and join their minor-league system.

Listed at 6 feet 5 and 185 pounds, the 18-year-old bats left-handed and throws right-handed.

Meadows' brother, Austin, was called up to the Pittsburgh Pirates this season and was named National League Rookie of the Month in May.
