Detroit Tigers release 2021 schedule: Opening Day on April 1 vs. Cleveland Indians

The Detroit Tigers probably won't have fans in the stands this season, but perhaps 2021 could bring some type of normalcy.

On Thursday, the Tigers released their 2021 schedule, beginning with Opening Day on April 1 at Comerica Park against the Cleveland Indians, and complete that series with games on April 3 and 4.

After the home series against the Minnesota Twins, the Tigers will hit the road for 10 consecutive games — against the Indians (April 9-11); Houston Astros (April 12-14); and Oakland Athletics (April 15-18).

The Tigers will play home interleague games against the Pittsburgh Pirates (April 20-22); Chicago Cubs (May 14-16); St. Louis Cardinals (June 22-23); and Milwaukee Brewers (Sept. 14-15) — all teams from the National League Central Division.

Interleague contests on the road come against the Brewers (May 31-June 1); Cardinals (Aug. 24-25); Cincinnati Reds (Sept. 3-5); and Pirates (Sept. 6-8).

The Tigers are at home on Mother's Day (May 9) against the Twins and against the Chicago White Sox on July 4 at Comerica Park. 

During Memorial Day weekend, the Tigers play three home games against the New York Yankees (May 28-30).

The home schedule concludes Sept. 26 against the Kansas City Royals before six road games against the Twins (Sept. 28-30) and White Sox (Oct. 1-3) to finish the regular season.
