Videos and photos captured on social media showed hundreds, if not thousands, of people on The Strip celebrating theCrimson Tide's 52- 24 victory over Ohio Statein the College Football Playoff on Monday night.

Tuscaloosa Police quickly were dispatched to clear a path through town, according to social media reports.

The celebration comes as COVID-19 cases are spiking around the country.

The Crimson Tide won their third CFP championship game on Monday — and the program's sixth national title under head coach Nick Saban.

The 2020 season was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced players, coaches and staff to undergo daily antigen testing in order to play.

Saban tested positive for COVID-19 in November and made a full recovery.
