OSU falls after losing big lead
Naz Hillmon scored off an offensive rebound with seven seconds left for the go-ahead points and Michigan defeated Ohio State 62-58 on Sunday in a Big Ten women's basketball game in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Michigan (12-7, 3-4) stopped a two-game losing streak and halted a three-game winning streak by Ohio State (7-9, 3-4).
The Buckeyes lost despite holding a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter. Carmen Grande hit a three-pointer to give the Buckeyes a 53-41 lead with 8:06 remaining.
The Wolverines went on a 14-2 run capped by a layup by Hallie Thome that tied it at 55-55 with 1:55 to go.
Carly Santoro, who led Ohio State with 16 points, answered with a three that put Buckeyes back on top at 58-55, but those were their last points.
Nicole Munger tied it with a three with 1:06 to go.
Thome blocked a layup attempt by Ohio State's Makayla Waterman and got the rebound, then missed a layup attempt of her own that was rebounded by Hillmon, who put the ball back up for a 60-58 lead with seven seconds left.
Santoro missed a shot from the paint at the other end and Munger grabbed the rebound and was fouled by Janai Crooms. Munger hit both free throws for the final points.
