Women’s basketball | Ohio State easily upends Northern Iowa

Freshman Jacy Sheldon posted a double-double to help guide Ohio State past Northern Iowa 64-46 on the final evening of the South Point Shootout on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Sheldon finished with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, grabbed 10 rebounds and made four steals. Sophomore Dorka Juhaz led Ohio State (4-3) with 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting, had five rebounds , two blocks and a steal. Freshman Madison Greene was 5 of 6 from the field with 12 points and two steals. Janai Crooms had six assists and tacked on eight points.
The Buckeyes broke open the game early, leading 22-9 after the first quarter and taking a 34-16 advantage into halftime. Ohio State’s offensive first-half explosion was matched by its effort on defense, as the Buckeyes held Northern Iowa (5-2) to 6 of 24 from the field through the first two periods. The Panthers ended the game 14 of 61 from the field and 8 of 29 from three-point range.
Ohio State shot 28 of 60 from the field, scored 42 points in the lane and had 18 points off turnovers. The Buckeyes outrebounded Northern Iowa 44-37.
Kam Finley led Northern Iowa off the bench with 16 points but also had a team-high five turnovers.
Ohio State next plays Louisville on Thursday at Value City Arena in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
